Education CS Ogamba Reshuffles Leadership in Key Universities Including Moi, UoN, KU

Silas Jakakimba, a former aide to Raila Odinga, has been appointed to the Kirinyaga University Council, following a series of changes announced by Education CS Julius Ogamba in various university councils.

This appointment marks a new chapter in Jakakimba's career in public service. He joins Ibrahim Khamis Mutwafy, Ursula Sabina Oyatsi and Margaret Kathambi Gitonga as one of the university council's new members.

The CS made these changes to the leadership of various universities in the country to streamline it.

In an official Gazette Notice dated July 25, Ogamba also announced a new appointment to the University of Nairobi (UoN) Council: Chacha Nyaigotti-Chacha as Non-Executive Chairperson.

The CS also appointed Ambassador John Kakonge, Samuel Njuguna Kimani, Jonathan Ltipalei Lodompui, and Mary Amuyunzu to be members of the UoN council. The appointments in the council come at a time when the University has been facing challenges in its leadership.

Ogamba also an appointment to the Moi University Council, where he appointed Mercy Ringa Njagi as a member of the council.

Kenyatta University also saw changes in its leadership after the CS appointed Joash Mokamba Keraita and Isaac Opuya Litali to be members of the Council of Kenyatta University. Ogamba also re-appointed Retired Major General Bashir Yusuf and Alice Waruguru Muita as members of the same board.

The University of Eldoret also welcomed the reappointment of Peter Onchari Kereri and the appointment of Evelyne Timpiyan Legis, Razoah Vitisia, to be members of the Council of the University of Eldoret.

Ogamba also made changes to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) where he re-appointed Cyrus Gituai to be its Non-Executive Chairperson.

Ogamba also made other parallel appointments to Laikipia, Karatina, Garissa, Egerton, Kisii, Rongo, Technical University of Kenya, South Eastern Kenya, Taita Taveta, and Murang'a Universities. University colleges like Bomet University College, Mama Ngina, Nyandarua, and others also saw changes.

Apart from Ogamba, other CSs also made changes to various boards. Sports CS Salim Mvurya appointed Joseph Maina Njogu to be a member of the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya, while Trade CS Lee Kinyajui appointed Dorothy Kipkoech to the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya.

Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku appointed  Brynes Mbogo to the  National Youth Service Council as a member, while Health CS Aden Duale appointed Dabar Abdi Maalim to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Nursing Council of Kenya Board.

ICT CS William Kabogo maintained the Chairperson of the Media Council of Kenya, alongside its members. He also announced four additional vacancies on the Council and invited applications from suitably qualified individuals.
