You've just topped up your Kenya Power (KPLC) prepaid meter, but the crucial message containing the 20-digit code either fails to arrive or, in a moment of oversight, is accidentally deleted from your phone.

Well, there are ways you can quickly resolve this common issue, ensuring you regain access to your purchased tokens.

One of the most accessible and widely used methods for token retrieval is the Kenya Power USSD service.

The USSD service is a mobile-based platform that operates without the need for an internet connection, making it ideal for a broad range of users.

To initiate the process, simply dial the code *977#, select “Prepaid Services (Token)”, then choose “Latest Token” or “Token Details”.

Enter your 11‑digit meter number, and you will receive an SMS with your last few token codes, including the most recent one you bought.

After confirming your meter number, the request is processed by Kenya Power's systems. This usually takes only a few moments.

You will then receive an SMS on your phone containing the precise 20-digit token code you need, often accompanied by details of your last few token transactions for easy verification.

Other than the USSD service, the MyPower mobile application also offers a comprehensive digital solution for smartphone users.

This app provides centralized access to various KPLC functionalities, including token retrieval.

Once you have downloaded the app, you do not even need to log in. Just navigate to the “My Bill/My Token” menu, then enter your meter number.

By inputting your specific meter number within the app, you will gain access to a detailed list of all your previous token purchases.

This history includes the date of purchase, the amount, and critically, the 20-digit token code for each transaction.
