The National Employment Authority (NEA) has cautioned Kenyans against fraudsters who are purporting to be recruiters and offering job opportunities in the authority.

In a notice on Monday, August 11, the authority clarified that there are currently no job vacancies in the authority, and Kenyans should ignore such advertisements.

NEA has urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and always verify any job posting before applying to avert fraudsters who exploit unsuspecting job seekers.

According to NEA, all legitimate job vacancies in the authority can only be accessed on the NEA official website and the NEA Integrated Management System (NEAIMS).

According to one of the flagged fake postings, the fraudster claimed that the authority required a Sales Representative.

"The National Employment Authority cautions the public against fraudsters posing as recruiters. Currently, there are no job openings within the authority. All legitimate job vacancy advertisements are posted exclusively on the official NEA website and the NEA Integrated Management System (NEAIMS)," NEA stated.

"It's crucial for job seekers to verify any job posting to avoid falling victim to scams. Always refer to official channels for accurate information regarding job opportunities," it added.

The announcement comes a week after the government cautioned the youths who are applying for jobs for opportunities under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme,  following a surge in fake platforms and scammers.

In a statement on Monday, August 4, NYOTA clarified that only the NYOTA official media platforms were authorised to share updates about the programme.

Furthermore, Nyota administrators noted that the programme is free of charge and applicants are not required to pay anything for services under the programme.

"Next steps on all applications will be communicated to all applicants via their numbers used during the application process as well as official announcements shared on the project website and the relevant social media channels,''  a statement from NYOTA read.
