Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has announced his bid for the Westlands Constituency Member of Parliament seat in 2027.

Taking to social media on Tuesday, August 12, Havi unveiled a four-point agenda he will be pushing in the upcoming elections as he eyes the Westlands MP for the second time.

However, he did not reveal which party he would be vying under, telling his supporters that they held the autonomy to choose that for him.

"Yes, we will run for Westlands in 2027, on a 4-point agenda. You, the voters, will pick a party for us," the statement read in part.

His four-point agenda includes a voice in Parliament, equity and inclusion, accountability and development.

When he vied in 2022, Havi ran on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket and was defeated by MP Tim Wanyonyi, who had vied on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

Havi joined the party on November 22, 2021, just a few weeks after announcing that he would be battling it out for the Westlands.

After the elections in August 2022, Wanyonyi won with 58,400 votes, followed by Havi, who garnered 19,500 votes after conceding two days earlier.

In 2023, he scored a state job after being appointed to chair the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) board. This position would invite scrutiny for a bit, as his criticism of the government was questioned since he was seemingly a "beneficiary" of the regime.

"I am not (a beneficiary). The Government is the beneficiary. As chair, I receive an honorarium of Ksh80,000, which is taxed to Ksh50,000. I serve gratuitously and not beneficially," Havi relayed in November 2024.

He left the position a few weeks ago after the Treasury Cabinet Secretary, John Mbadi, appointed former Kibwezi MP Philip Kiloki to replace him. His term was cut short by six months.

Although he has not announced his party, the senior counsel has been an avid supporter of former Chief Justice David Maraga since he announced his Presidential bid. Maraga has also not announced his party yet.
