A 37-year-old woman has been arrested with several incriminating items in a raid targeting a gang terrorising Garissa residents.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed on Wednesday, August 14, that the woman was linked to the notorious gang that had stolen a Glock pistol from its last known victim.

Reportedly, the Glock 17 pistol ripped from the victim was recovered from the woman following a search of the premises by Madogo Police Station in an operation led by the Deputy RCIO of the North Eastern Region.

On the night of August 5, 2025, when the violent robbery happened, the victim was reportedly walking home from a mosque in Bulla Buris when he was attacked.

Three gangsters, all masked and armed, reportedly pounced on the man and knocked him out with a blow to his head, rendering him unconscious. When he came to, his pistol and all the cash he had with him were gone.

The thugs had been armed with an AK-47 rifle, a pistol and a rungu during the attack.

After reporting the incident, the police officers kicked off investigations, with undisclosed forensic evidence leading them to the female suspect.

Upon interrogation, she guided officers to her house in Bula Kartasi, where the stolen gun was recovered with 17 live rounds alongside the victim's and his wife's national identity cards.

Several other stolen items, like phones, watches, purses, jewellery, and 11 passports of different people, were also recovered in the raid.

Most damning, however, was the recovery of items belonging to security forces, including a military smock jacket, a service-colour belt, a Kenya Police Service Certificate of Appointment, and a military identification card.

The woman was taken into custody at the Madogo Police Station, where she is still awaiting arraignment in court.

Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to smoke out her accomplices and dismantle the gang.
