The family of Huduma Centre Official Hussein Abdirahman Mohamed from Isiolo County has called on the President William Ruto Government to intervene and help them in finding their kin, two months into his disappearance.

The family is demanding answers from the government, while accusing them of remaining silent despite Abdirahman being a government official.

‘’Hussein is a senior government official; he is not just a public officer, and the funny part is, we have not seen any efforts from the government to trace his whereabouts. Our question is, what is happening, what is the government doing,’’ Katra Abdirahman, the official’s sister, said.

Speaking on the disappearance, the Ajuran Professional Association, a community group, also condemned the lack of response, terming  Abdirahman’s disappearance as a matter of national concern.

‘’If he is not in the hands of the government, then they should help look for him, but now, the government is not looking for him, nor is not saying anything about his disappearance,’’ one of the association’s elders said.

The family says that they have been plunged into confusion since his disappearance, revealing that all efforts to find him have ended in vain.

‘’It would have been better to know if he was dead or alive; now we don’t know anything,’’ they said.

The family has warned the enforcement authorities, warning that cases of disappearances in Northern Kenya are becoming alarmingly frequent.

The Huduma Centre official went missing on Tuesday, July 8, after he was last seen attending an official function, only to go missing hours later.

Since his disappearance, his family filed a petition seeking to compel the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, to produce him.

In court documents obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, Hussein's family filed a habeas corpus application under a certificate of urgency demanding that the state produce Hussein or give a credible account about his whereabouts by July 14. Almost two months later, the official is still missing.

The petition was accompanied by supporting documents, including photographs showing Hussein seated among dignitaries at the event in Wajir county, which marked his last public appearance before going missing.
