Florence Bore, President William Ruto's nominee as Kenya's High Commissioner to Namibia, has vowed to maintain the relationship Kenya has enjoyed with Namibia for decades.
Bore, a former Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, revealed this while appearing before the National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations on Wednesday, September 3, for vetting following her nomination.
She was nominated by President William Ruto in a diplomatic reshuffle announced on August 15.
Bore previously served as Kericho Women Representative before taking a CS position in President Ruto's first cabinet.
Her nomination is part of a reshuffle by the government to align with President Ruto’s BETA agenda, which aims to strengthen Kenya’s foreign services and enhance global representation.

Speaking during the vetting, Bore revealed that she is worth Ksh302 million. She attributed her wealth to different businesses, including real estate, farming, and savings accumulated over her two-decade career in public service.
The former CS detailed that Kenya and Namibia’s relationship dates back to 1964 when former President Jomo Kenyatta sent them a landrover for their use during their liberation struggle.
‘’We have been collaborating with Namibia through several agreements in tourism, political and diplomatic consultations, agriculture, health, aviation, education, and youth affairs,’’ Bore said.
‘’Our relationship is warm and cordial; if given this opportunity, mine is to go and strengthen that relationship, and I believe we can do more on this,’’ she continued.
The former CS also spoke on the two countries collaborating on culture, music, and social economics.
Her nomination comes at a time when Kenya is seeking to deepen ties with Southern African nations including Namibia in areas such as trade, education and regional security.
Bore pledged to prioritize bilateral cooperation and promote Kenya’s image as a stable and investment-friendly nation.
