The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) raised Ksh69.7 million from the sale of properties seized from former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and a former Nairobi County finance official.
The properties, which were recovered through successful court proceedings in corruption and economic crimes cases, were sold at a public auction on October 9, 2025.
According to the Commission, the auctioned assets were among 10 properties confiscated in connection with anti-corruption and economic crimes.
The disposal exercise followed court orders directing that the proceeds be surrendered to the state.
Among the properties sold was a three-bedroom apartment at Riara Apartments on LR 330/140, Nairobi/Block 14/247, which fetched Ksh14 million.
Two properties at Greenspan Estate were also sold, a three-bedroom apartment that went for Ksh6.95 million and a two-bedroom apartment that realised Ksh6.75 million.
Additionally, a maisonette at Greenspan Estate was also sold for Ksh11 million, while a townhouse at Loresho Ridge Estate fetched Ksh31 million.
EACC noted that the total amount realised from the sale of the five assets stood at Ksh69,705,000, surpassing the valuation reserve prices set before the auction.
The Commission stated that the exercise was part of its strategy to ensure that proceeds of corruption and economic crimes are recovered and surrendered to the state in accordance with the law.
It further announced that additional auctions will be held on October 16, 2025, for the remaining properties located in Kisumu and Migori counties.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to ensuring that individuals found guilty of corruption and economic crimes do not benefit from their ill-gotten wealth.
''In line with Section 56C of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, all proceeds from the sale of recovered assets shall be deposited into the Consolidated Fund,'' the commission stated.
