Mbadi, Duale, Oparanya Lead CSs to Make 25 New Govt Appointments

25 people have been appointed to serve in various capacities across five ministries in the latest state appointments.

Leading in the number of appointments is the Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs, Wycliffe Oparanya, who made 15 appointments to serve in the national and county steering committees on the revival of coffee through cooperatives.

"It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has constituted a National Steering Committee and County Steering Committee on the revival of Coffee through co-operatives for a period of two (2) years, with effect from the 31st October, 2025," the notice read.

Njeru Ndwiga will serve as the chairperson, while Daniel Chemno and James Wachihi Muturi will serve as the first and second vice chairpersons, respectively.

Timothy Mirugi, Laura Wanjiru, Charles Rintaugu, Kennedy Kilwake, Okioma Mwancha, Caroline Cherotich, David Obonyo, Henry Kinyua, Elijah Gichuru (Dr), Felix Mutwiri, Felix Miano, and Richard Kiprono Magut will serve as members. The committee will serve for three years.

The respective county steering committee will have the County Commissioner serve as the Chairperson, a position he/she will share with the county's CEC for Agriculture or Cooperatives. The county's new KPCU Representative will serve as secretary.

The County Chief Officer of Agriculture, the County Chief Officer of Co-operatives – Member, the Coffee Co-operative Society/Union Representative and the County Director of Co-operatives will be members of the committee.

Health CS Aden Duale followed with six new appointments to the Nursing Council of Kenya to serve as members for a period of three years.

The appointed persons are Collins Otieno Ajwang, Salome Nasimiyu Situma, Teckla Ngotie (Dr), Gilbert Sigei, Juliana Misore (Prof) and Sarah Marrey Burje.

Energy CS Opiyo Wandayo, on the other hand, made two appointments of Lilian Bokeeye Mahiri-Zaja and Henry Gathara Karinga to the Board of Directors of Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited.

Elsewhere, Treasury CS John Mbadi appointed Felix Useru Nyauchi to be a member of the Insurance Tribunal, starting October 31, thereby revoking the earlier appointment of Sammy Cheepkwony, who currently serves as the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) chairperson.

Lastly, Trade CS Lee Kinyanhui appointed Gor Anthony Ochieng to be a member of the Kenya Consumer Protection Advisory Committee.
