Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has accused the government of orchestrating the disappearance of at least 14 Kenyans during the by-elections held across 24 regions on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
Speaking during a meeting where former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua addressed his Democratic Change Party (DCP) members on Wednesday, December 3,2025, Malala painted a grim picture of state brutality.
“I would like to show you the cruelty that William Ruto has done to Kenyans. They beat our youth, some were hanged and thrown in the market.” Malala alleged.
He asserts that they were hanged, thrown in the river, and those people who were doing that job were being helped by the police.
The by-elections have been marred by unprecedented violence and chaos.
Malava aspirant Seth Panyako was attacked on November 26, while Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma was assaulted by a mob in Kasipul on November 27.
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya faced an attack on November 23, and Gachagua was teargassed during a church service in Kariobangi North on November 30.
Both UDA and opposition parties have traded blame over who is instigating the violence, with each side accusing the other of rigging attempts.
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) issued a press statement warning that the country cannot afford turmoil similar to what was witnessed during Thursday's polls.
Malala insisted that the will of the people must prevail, warning that leadership cannot be sustained through violence and intimidation.
