Grade nine learners who sat for the 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) examinations are now able to access their results through a Short Message Service (SMS).

Teachers, parents and learners were directed on Thursday, December 4, to access the results by sending the students' assessment numbers to 22263 at a cost of Ksh30.

Upon sending the SMS, an individual will be able to access the full KJSEA results, including the learner's choice of schools based on their career paths.

"To check a KJSEA learner's selected schools, send their assessment number to 22263. The SMS costs Ksh30," read a notice from Kenya's leading telecommunications company.

The examinations done between October 27 and November 3, 2025, were expected to serve as a test of a student's preparedness to transition into senior secondary schools.

Meanwhile, the notice follows Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok's announcement two weeks ago that the examination results would be released in early December this year.

Addressing the press on November 17, Bitok revealed that the results of the national examinations would be released before or by December 11.

He noted that the Ministry of Education was prepared to handle the transition of the over 1 million learners who sat for the examinations.

While the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) is yet to formally announce the release of the examination results, the placement of students is expected to take place within a week of the exam results' release.

According to the Ministry of Education, once all the results are released, students will be able to access their letters before December 25 and report to their new institutions by January 12, 2026.

The latest announcement comes a day after KNEC urged members of the public to remain vigilant and beware of fraudsters purporting to be able to alter a candidate's score in both KJSEA and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

In a statement on Wednesday, December 3, KNEC said it had received reports that individuals posting as 'insiders' promised to change the results of candidates in exchange for money.
