The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has warned Kenyans following reports of deceptive text messages being circulated to people regarding the recently advertised job vacancies.

KeRRA on Wednesday, January 14, stated that it had received numerous reports of fraudulent text messages being sent to members of the public after it advertised over 300 job vacancies.

According to the Authority, unknown individuals were sending messages to job seekers, falsely claiming to represent KeRRA and inviting them to participate in aptitude tests.

"The Authority has received numerous reports of fraudulent text messages being sent to stakeholders following the recently advertised job vacancies," KeRRA stated.

In the notice, KeRRA labelled the said messages as false and misleading, further urging Kenyans to remain vigilant and treat the messages with extreme caution.

"Please note these messages are false in nature. Do not fill out any aptitude test purporting to be from KeRRA," the authority added.

KeRRA clarified that it does not conduct recruitment through text messages, nor does it require applicants to make any form of payment at any stage of the recruitment process.

KeRRA further stated that all official communication is issued only through its platforms, including its official website, verified social media accounts and email.

"We urge the public to ignore any links claiming to be from KeRRA. The Authority has reported the contacts circulating this false information," KeRRA stated.

KeRRA Job Vacancies

The latest announcement comes a day after the Authority said it was offering 308 job opportunities, with Kenyans urged to apply for the vacant positions.

In the notice published on Tuesday, January 13, KeRRA grouped the vacancies into 12 job grades, with grades 1, 2 and 3 comprising 18 positions at the senior management level.

These included the director general, director of internal audit, deputy director of roads, deputy director of enterprise risk management, deputy director of planning and deputy director of legal affairs.

Others are the deputy director of survey, the deputy director of supply chain management, the deputy director of research and innovation, and the deputy director of administration.
