12 University Students in Robbery Case

12 University of Nairobi students were on Tuesday arraigned in court to answer to charges of violent robbery, being armed in public, damage to property and creating disturbance at the Lower Kabete Campus.

The students who were also accused of attempting to commit felony during student leaders' elections included: Samuel Legira, Job Mandara, Booker Omole (the gun owner), Benedict Wandeto, Oliver Mureithi, Astagus Rayori, Edwin Kemoi, Jacob Onono, Edward Otieno, Langat Kenneth, Benrodger Nganu, Mwach Mazden and Jacob Onono.

All suspects denied the charges even as the prosecution team said that it had 15 witnesses ready to testify in the case.

Lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, representing the students, promised the court that the accused would act in accordance to its directions.

The suspects were each released on Sh50,000 bail.
