14 Trucks and Land Cruiser Set on Fire at Kiptunga Forest in Molo, Nakuru

14 lorries and a Land Cruiser were Monday night set on fire by angry residents who were protesting the killing of two people in Kiptunga forest in Molo, Nakuru County.

The irate group is said to have stormed the forest where the lorries were parked, surrounded them before torching them down.

According to Head of Mau Conservancy Cosmas Ikiungu, the residents are said to have been retaliating after three lorries carrying timber knocked down and killed two of their colleagues.

Confirming the incident, Molo OCPD Daniel Kamanza said the drivers of the lorries managed to escape leaving the mob to set their three vehicles on fire.

“Three trucks were carrying wood and were leaving the forest at 8.30 pm on Monday when the two were knocked down. The drivers of the trucks were able to escape and are still at large,” he stated.

The trucks belong to Comply Industries Limited - wood products manufacturing company based in Nakuru.

Reports indicate that security has been beefed up in the area to prevent any retaliatory attacks.
