Nine members of a music group died on Saturday morning after the boat they were using capsized in Lake Victoria.
The boat which had 17 passengers on board was heading to Ndenda Island, Siaya County when the incident happened.
Eight people were rescued in the fatal accident.
Nyangoma Assistant Deputy Commissioner Angeline Were confirmed the incident.
The Boyieta Wuod Awasi-Ohangla team was expected to perform on Saturday evening at a concert in Ndenda.
Update:
The bodies of the 9 musicians were all retrieved by Tuesday and a prayer service held at the beach.
