Kiambu Woman Gets 2 Sheep After 1 Was Killed by Uhuru's Motorcade

A Kiambu resident received a surprise gift after one of her animals was reportedly hit and killed by President Uhuru Kenyatta's motorcade.

The woman identified as Lucy Gathoni was this week given two sheep as compensation for her animal that was killed on Saturday during Kenyatta's tour of the County.

The new animals were taken to her Kambaa home by Ngewa Member County Assembly Karungo wa Thang’wa.

According to Gathoni, her children left home to go cheer the President who was passing along Kimende-Githunguri road but left the animals unattended.

“We were informed that the President was to visit the area and we all went to the road to witness. Our children followed us when they heard the siren of his motorcade, but they forgot to lock the gate,” she told the Star.

She claimed that the animals followed the children towards the direction of the Head of State's convoy.

Gathoni added that the goat was, however, hit and killed while attempting to cross the road.

After the incident, the MCA who has expressed interest in the Kiambu Senate seat promised to follow up on the matter so that Ms Gathoni could be compensated.
