10 Kenyans Who Murdered Military Man Sentenced to Hang

10 Kenyan men have been sentenced to death for killing a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer and two other people in 2013 in Migori County.

The convicts were part of a mob that burnt to death KDF's Chief Accountant Elkana Gondi Syong'oh, his driver Moses Magiri Amek and his farmhand Simon Gombe.

The judgement was made by Justice David Majanja and published by the Kenya Law Reports.

The slain men, who had travelled to Migori to buy a species of bird known as quails, were attacked by a mob on suspicion that they were cattle rustlers.

"After their car stopped, Joseph Odhiambo began pulling the driver and passengers out of the car with the help of Nicholas Otunga,” stated Justice Majanja in his judgement.

The mob hacked the three men to death before setting them ablaze.

12 people were arrested following the attack but two were set free after the court dropped charges against them.

According to Justice Majanja, some of the suspects were found with items stolen from the victims.

The verdict closed the case that lasted for close to four years.

The 10 include David Ochieng Ajwang, Nicholas Otunga Otieno, Daniel Owino Oganyo, Julius Makambo Obade, Kennedy Kisa Omweri, Julius Otieno Deya, Janes Ogalo Oketch Olendo, Joseph Odhiambo Majiwa, Joseph Keya Omweri and Paul Koi Odeko.
