Kenya Rugby Sevens Superstar Humphrey Kayange got his seat at the National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOCK).
The player, who is commonly referred to as "tall", won the male athletes representative position at NOCK after he went unopposed ahead of the elections.
Kayange's main role in the committee would be to advocate for the rights of all athletes in the country in regards to Olympics.
Former Marathon World record holder Paul Tergat went unopposed and will be the next President of NOCK after incumbent Kipchoge Keino stepped aside.
Tergat welcomed Keino's move stating that he had left an unparalleled mark and showed great statesmanship
“I am delighted by Kipchoge’s move and for sure he is leaving an unparalleled mark. We shall engage him for advice,” Tergat stated.
Olympic 5000M Silver medallist Hellen Obiri also went unopposed and will from May 5th be the next female athletes representative at NOCK.
The previous NOCK was disbanded after allegedly mismanaging funds meant for athletes who represented the country in the Rio Olympics.
Here are some reactions from Kenyans regarding the team's win:
