The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) published a list seven requirements that political parties must comply with ahead of the November 27 by-elections.
Among the requirements, political parties were required to submit signatories for nomination certificates and their specimen signatures by September 17.
The ORPP also instructed all parties wishing to take part in the by-elections to establish election management bodies and internal dispute resolution committees within their structures before the polls.
Another requirement was for the parties to certify their party membership registers with the ORPP prior to the by-elections.
The fourth requirement was for the political parties to submit their list of nomination details to the ORPP. This included venue, dates, methods, and the list of members to be nominated.
Political parties were also directed to upload nomination details to their websites and ensure that the information was publicised on the ORPP website. According to the ORPP, this had to be done at least seven days before the nomination.
Political parties wishing to compete in the by-elections were also required to follow the specified timelines and submission procedures outlined by the ORPP and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The final requirement was for the political parties to adhere to key legal provisions, such as the parties/elections code of conduct, regulations, and gazette notices, which are issued periodically.
