NASA Flag-bearer Raila Odinga Refuses to Stop Declaring Number of Votes He Will Get in August Elections

Just a day after Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) chairman Francis Ole Kaparo instructed politicians to stop declaring they would win the August 8 polls by certain numbers, National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga has stated that he will not stop his rallying call because it is well within his rights.

Speaking after verifying his election registration details at Old Kibera Primary School, Odinga accused NCIC of being used by the Jubilee government.

"We have no apology to make to anyone. NCIC is a tool of Jubilee. We have not broken any law by saying we have more than 10 million votes," he stated.

Nkaissery and Kaparo had stated that the continuous rallying calls by politicians may lead voters to fail to accept election results leading to chaos.

Odinga also questioned the criteria the electoral agency used in picking and deploying the county and constituency returning officers, saying the process was not transparent and inclusive.

Last week, members of the opposition stated that they wanted presidential results announced at the constituency level to be final and now claim the latest move by IEBC to redeploy some officers was fishy.

"There are instances where officers come from the same area while others have been redeployed. This is unacceptable," he said.

The Opposition Chief further claimed the subsidised price of maize flour was a political ploy, and that the Jubilee administration was making millions from the increased prices of petroleum products.

"Jubilee is giving on one hand and taking with the other hand. This is only a campaign gimmick, in the next two months the prices will shoot up," said Raila.
