Mandera Governor Ali Roba has suffered another attack after his escort vehicle hit a landmine at Simo area on Wednesday afternoon.
The Governor is said to have been travelling from Arabia area to campaign in Lafey.
According to reports, five police officers were killed during the incident.
In 2015, three people including two police officers lost their lives after Roba's convoy was attacked along the Mandera-Arabia road.
The attackers are said to have fired a rocket-propelled grenade at two vehicles in the convoy injuring seven people.
Also in October 2014, the Governor was involved in a similar attack after an improvised explosive device hit cars accompanying him to his office in Mandera town.
Roba had just passed the scene of the incident when a vehicle behind him hit the explosive injuring his bodyguard.
