Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth has revealed that his rival Miguna Miguna is bitter towards him because he refused to give him money to fund his governorship campaign.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, the former Gatanga Member of Parliament stated that he turned down Miguna's request for money, telling him to organise a fundraiser instead.
"Miguna came to my office to ask me for money that he would use to fund his governorship bid. I instructed him to hold a fundraiser, which he did, but none of the guests showed up," he stated.
Kenneth was responding to claims made by Miguna in late April that he was incompetent to lead Nairobi County.
He also tore into Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko's running mate Polycarp Igathe by saying the Vivo Energy managing director was not as clean as he purported to be and that he would expose him soon.
"We all know what happened at Haco Brands, Breweries and Vivo but I wll not reveal that here," he stated.
Kenneth, who lost to Sonko in the Jubilee Party primaries for Nairobi governorship is set to vie as an independent candidate and was quick to dispel rumours that he had been paid by incumbent Governor Evans Kidero to split votes.
"Kidero cannot afford me. I am not splitting anything because I am an independent candidate,” he reiterated.
His decision to vie as an independent candidate has not gone down well with some members of Jubilee as they feel he is once again going against President Uhuru Kenyatta, having contested the presidency in 2013.
Kenneth also refused to be drawn into the inclusion of Kidero and Sonko on the blacklist by activists due to integrity issues, steering clear of the matter by saying the relevant bodies would deal with them.
"I do not want to be the one to judge them. If we have institutions to deal with integrity they should be in a position to deal with them," he said.
