Wattle Blossom Lounge Director Jailed in UK for Stealing Sh6 Million From Kathleen Brindle

A 27-year-old Kenyan woman who is a Director at Wattle Blossom Lounge located in Athi River has been jailed by a United Kingdom court for two years.

Kisella Hillman was put behind bars on allegations of stealing Sh6 Million from her elderly employer who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

The Director was accused of stealing from Kathleen Brindle, an elderly woman whom she had been entrusted to look after.

She was suspected of making away with the money in instalments of £4,000, £15,500 and £32,000 and used it to pay for time in a recording studio and support an orphanage owned by her mother Sarah Hillman in Kitui.

The prosecution stated that the convict had brainwashed the ailing woman to a point of convincing her that she, Kisella, was her granddaughter.

According to Crown Court Prosecutor Nikki Combe, Mrs Briddles bankers got concerned after Kisella took the old woman to the bank for a transaction.

"Staff were worried. They said she seemed less confident, less aware of her financial situation and they were concerned she was being taken advantage of. They asked her why she was withdrawing the money and why she wanted to close the account." Ms Combe narrated.

The bank staff handed over the money in £50 notes to Kisella who put into a rucksack claiming there was a bodyguard outside waiting to escort them home.

She was later apprehended after another employee of the Brindle family raised an alarm.

Kisella, who has a degree in music and English literature from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, started working as a nanny for the family before becoming Mrs Briddle's care giver.
