60-year-old Woman Among Three Lucky Winners of Sh111 Million in SportPesa Megajackpot.

Florence Machogu, a 60-year-old teacher, and mother of six is among the three lucky winners of the Sh111 Million SportPesa Megajackpot.

The three correctly predicted the outcome of 17 football matches and equally shared the cash reward, bagging Sh37,058,791 each.

Machogu becomes the oldest woman to have won the jackpot so far and only the third woman to have won the lucrative jackpot which was launched in September last year.

She could not hide her joy as she received her cheque, saying she would take a break from teaching to try out her luck in business.

The primary school teacher also admitted that she did not fully understand how betting works but always bought newspapers to look at the odds and place bets.

“I am not very conversant with how the internet works so I usually buy newspapers, look at the odds and place my bets offline,” she said yesterday in Nairobi.

The other two men who shared in the win were Geoffrey Keitany, a General Service Unit (GSU) officer based in Baringo County and Daniel Rono.

Keitany stated that he had tried his luck a number of times and had spent approximately Sh30,000 before he landed the MegaJackpot.

“I started betting in 2014 and since then I think I’ve used about Sh30,000 in total. I was introduced to betting by my elder brother. I will not quit my job but I will continue betting,” he said.

This comes just under a month after Samuel Abisai won Sh 221Million, becoming the first Kenyan to win the SportPesa midweek jackpot.
