Residents of Roysambu Suspect Caretakers are Colluding With Robbers to Break Into Their Houses

Residents of Roysambu area in Nairobi are concerned about the rate at which their houses are being broken into.

In just under two months, there have been 5 cases of burglary where tenants have lost electronic equipment and other valuables.

The shocking bit is that the robberies mostly take place on Thursdays between 12pm and 3pm.

This is also the time that garbage is collected in the area, leading to suspicion that the collectors might be the culprits.

Roysambu is mostly inhabited by middle-class earners and students from the surrounding universities, who are often away during the day.

There is also rising concern that caretakers in the estate are colluding with robbers due to the frequency with which the robberies take place.

One of the residents claimed he was in school when he got a phone call from his caretaker asking him to urgently go back home.

When he got to his house, he was met by a broken padlock and a vandalised house.

He lost a tablet, mobile phone and a laptop.

Kasarani OCPD Robinson Mboloi stated that most cases had gone unreported thus encouraging robbers to continue with their deeds.

Mboloi urged residents who had lost their property to report to the police for investigations to be conducted.
