Bondo Leaders and Elders Reject Raila Odinga's Six Piece Voting System

A section of leaders from Bondo, which is National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga's backyard, has rejected a proposal for a six piece style of voting in the August 8 General Election.

The leaders, who also consisted of elders from the region, dismissed the idea propagated by Odinga stating that voters should be at liberty to vote for candidates of their choice.

Speaking in South Sakwa when one of the independent candidates in the constituency launched his campaigns, the group cautioned against coercing residents to vote for specific aspirants.

The leaders further declared that they would vote for independent candidates, and not ODM aspirants, including gubernatorial aspirant Nicholas Gumbo.

“We want to demonstrate to ODM party bigwigs that the primaries were shambolic hence we have opted for independent candidates. The best leaders were rigged out during the primaries. We shall vote for them,” the group affirmed.

The NASA flag bearer had criticised leaders who decamped after the party primaries to vie for independent candidates maintaining that they should not be voted in during the upcoming polls.

Despite rejecting Odinga's proposal, the politicians maintained they would support him in an attempt to beat Jubilee's President Uhuru Kenyatta and other presidential candidates.

The new development comes barely a week after the NASA principal was heckled in the same area after attempting to campaign for Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga.
