David Gitau Killed in Nakuru's Pipeline Estate

A Nakuru businessman was on Wednesday night shot dead in Pipeline estate just days after he expressed fears for his life.

David Gitau, who also served as the Secretary of the Nakuru Workers Cooperative Society, was gunned down in what has been suspected to be an assassination.

The deceased is said to have been walking home in the company of another woman when they were ambushed by two men who shot them dead.

According to another official who is a treasurer of the Society, Gitau was tense and kept claiming that his life was in danger moments before he was killed.

At around 8 pm, he stated that he heard gunshots and after a short search, he found Gitau with blood all over his face.

“At 8 pm I heard gunshots and I just remembered that I did not check up on him to ask if he got home safely. When I rushed outside, I saw his body on the ground with blood on his face,” the treasurer told the Nation.

The two bodies were later taken to Nakuru Level Five Hospital mortuary.

The company has been facing wrangles with five of its officials being killed in the last five years including one who was gunned down outside his house in November 2016.

Confirming the latest incident, Nakuru Police Commander Hassan Barua assured that investigations would be hasty to establish whether the killings connected.
