Two Members of the Migori County Assembly on Thursday exchanged blows following an argument over an impeachment motion against the area Governor.
The female legislators are said to have been sitting together in the County Assembly before they started quarrelling over rumours that there was a motion to remove Governor Okoth Obado from office.
The confrontation by the two leaders from Suna West and Rongo Constituencies brought proceedings in the House to a halt with journalists being denied entry into the Assembly.
According to the County Assembly Speaker Boaz Okoth, the ward representatives fought because of the proposed motion which he said had not even been introduced in the Chamber.
"I have heard it too, but I was not there. The two were arguing over the impending motion to impeach the governor," stated Okoth.
The same version was narrated by another MCA who, however, did not reveal identities of the female representatives in question.
"The two were seated side by side during a plenary session at the assembly when they started exchanging blows bringing the session into abrupt end," another MCA affirmed.
Several other representatives are said to have earlier raised accountability queries complaining over allocation of funds to different projects within the county.
They had warned of taking action if the governor failed to address some of the issues raised sparking rumours of an impending impeachment motion.
