Two vehicles were allegedly stolen on Friday in Kiganjo during the police pass out parade that was presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The vehicles which were all Proboxes are said to have vanished as Kenyatta was ushering in more than 3980 new officers into the country's security system.
They were reported to have gone missing from a field a few metres away from the training college where attendees of the event had parked their vehicles.
Area security agents are conducting investigations into the incident in an effort to recover the cars.
During the ceremony, Kenyatta announced that the graduating recruits would bring the ratio of police officer to civilians to 1:380 – surpassing the United Nations’ recommended benchmark ratio of one policeman or woman to every 450 civilians.
He added that the additional strength meant the National Police Service would now be able to offer better services, deploy more efficiently and cover more ground.
President Kenyatta affirmed the government’s commitment to the police modernization program, citing the new armoured cars, new planes and new surveillance facilities that have been procured for the purpose of empowering police officers to effectively do their job.
The Head of State further noted that the government would also recruit another 10,000 Kenyans in 2017 to ensure the country's security is stabilised.
