Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju on Wednesday attacked Opposition leader Raila Odinga over his recent comments on the cancellation of the Sh2.5 Billion ballot paper tender telling him to grow up and learn how to accept defeat.
Tuju noted that Raila and the Opposition had a record of destroying institutions and that whatever accusations they were now levelling against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and President Uhuru Kenyatta were all hogwash.
"NASA has a record of destroying institutions, when Raila lost in 2007 the Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) was disbanded. In 2013, 5 commissioners of IEBC were sent home after he (Raila) lost.
"Now he wants IEBC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ezra Chiloba gone. Very sensational but no proof," Tuju stated.
The former Minister stated that NASA was not ready for the elections and had resorted to blocking every IEBC move. He (Tuju) cited 11 cases the Opposition had filed against the commission from November last year.
"Today as a party, we are compelled to define to Kenyans the 11 times when ODM, CORD, NASA and Raila Odinga acting together or in different permutations made serious attempts to derail the 2017 elections," said Tuju.
The former Diplomat dismissed claims of the involvement of the President's family in the IEBC tender stating that a mere photo of President Kenyatta shaking hands with the manager of the Dubai firm is no evidence of a deal made.
"I have seen the statement from NASA trying to drag the name of the President and his family into the matter of Al Ghurair. Again, just sensational allegations that cannot stand any scrutiny but can grab headlines.
"The President has been going around the globe marketing the country. If he hosts delegations at State House, does it mean he is influencing a tender?" Tuju stated.
The former Rarieda legislator made the comments while responding to Raila's remarks calling for the resignation of Mr Chiloba and linking President Kenyatta's family to Al Ghurair company which was awarded the Sh2.5 Billion ballot box tender.
