NARC-Kenya Leader Martha Karua Heckled in Her Gichugu Backyard

Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua who is also Kirinyaga County gubernatorial candidate was on Saturday heckled and jeered during her campaigns in her backyard Gichugu.

Following the continuous shouting and heckling, Ms Karua who was accompanied by her running mate Joseph Gitari was forced to cut short her speech and call off the rally.

Karua's woes started after she mentioned that her opponent in the Kirinyaga governorship race Ms Anne Waiguru was corrupt and should not be elected in the upcoming elections.

The crowd that had gathered to listen to the Narc-Kenya leader started chanting anti-Karua slogans stating that she (Karua) had nothing to show despite serving in top positions in government.

"You resigned as justice minister after you had promised us you would lobby for the construction of Kianyaga - Kithure road but that did not happen," one of the residents stated.

The rowdy crowd asked politicians in the area to

Efforts by Gitari to calm the crowd were futile as the crowd continued shouting pro-Waiguru slogans.

The residents warned politicians campaigning in the region to desist from engaging in propaganda stating that all aspirants seeking elective posts should articulate their development agenda instead of attacking personalities.

Ms Karua and her rival Waiguru have in the past few weeks been engaged in a heated war of words with each camp accusing the other of failing the Kirinyaga people.

The duo will face off in the August elections in what many analysts have termed as a battle of the tough contest.
