Uhuru Highway to Be Closed Temporarily on Saturday

The Nairobi City County on Sunday announced that Uhuru Highway would be closed on Saturday 24th June 2017 from 8:00 pm to Sunday, June 25th, 2017 at 6:00 pm.

In a statement from County Secretary Dr Robert Ayisi, the county government noted that the road would be closed to allow for the offloading of transformers, cable wires among other apparatus that would be used to upgrade Cathedral Kenya Power station along Uhuru Highway A104.

"The general public and especially motorists are hereby notified of the temporary closure of a section of Uhuru Highway, Mombasa road bound traffic between University way and Kenyatta Avenue roundabout.

"The closure will take place from 24th June 2017 at 8:00 pm to 25th June 2017 at 6:00 pm," Dr Ayisi's statement read in part.

In the notice, road users are notified that vehicles coming from Chiromo road to Uhuru Highway would be diverted to Globe Cinema roundabout from which they will move to the Central Business District (CBD).

Vehicles coming from Nyerere road intending to access Uhuru highway would also be diverted to University way then to Globe Cinema roundabout after which they would proceed to the CBD.

The County Government further noted that all road users should drive carefully and obey traffic signals which would be given by the traffic police and any signage along the roads to allow for easy movement.
