President Uhuru Kenyatta Booed in Kiambu When Campaigning for Jubilee's Ferdinand Waititu and Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a

President Uhuru Kenyatta received a hostile reception in Thika where he was booed on stage as he drummed up support for Jubilee candidates in Kiambu County.

He was addressing the Kiambu residents asking them to support Ferdinand Waititu for Governor and Thika MP candidate Alice Ng’ang’a when the crowd turned hostile and jeered him.

“I plead with you to give us leaders who we will be able to work with. And most of them are here. Baba Yao is here, Mama County is here, na (and) mheshimiwa wa Thika Town is here,” Uhuru said amid shouts from the locals.

The residents disagreed with Uhuru and Ruto’s appeal to adopt the six-piece voting pattern in the region holding up placards declaring “UhuRuto Sawa, The Others Let The People Decide”.

“We will vote for UhuRuto but in the grassroots, we will make our individual decision because we are the ones who know whether they can deliver better than the President and his deputy,” Eunice Waithera who is a registered voter in Kiambu declared.

In Ruiru, the Jubilee duo faced an equally embarrassing scenario, as supporters of Governor William Kabogo waved placards expressing solidarity with their leader who lost in the Jubilee Party primaries.

In Thika Stadium, the President's calls for the locals to support Ng’ang’a for the town's parliamentary seat were met with jeers and chants in favour of her main competitor Patrick Wainaina who is running as an independent.

Ng'ang'a was even forced to cut her speech after the heckling became too much as the president watched.

Residents revealed to a local newspaper that they would not repeat the mistake of voting in a six-piece pattern as they did in 2013 and that they would practice their democratic right to vote for the leaders they want.
