TikTok officially launched the 'TikTok for Artists' platform on Wednesday, August 27, in Kenya, following its global launch in June.

The new platform will only be available to musicians with verified artist accounts, as it is designed to provide them with the tools to track their performance.

Most notably, it will include daily-updated dashboards and comprehensive analytics that will help them understand their music performance, audience, and fan engagement on TikTok.

This is set to help them promote their work and drive success both on and off the platform.

TikTok for Artists Features

The new platform will have several new features, specific to the artists, that will help them analyse several sections of their music journey, including;

  • Song Performance

The platform will provide the number of views, posts and creator engagements for every track.

  • Post performance

It will also share insight for each post, providing data on views, likes, comments, shares and post completion rates.

  • Follower insights

It will provide a breakdown of the audience by gender, age and language.

  • Step-by-step guides to TikTok tools and features

Artists will be guided on how to utilise each new feature available.

  • Support and resources for building a long-term music career

The platform will also provide much-needed support for growing musicians.

With the release also comes the Pre-Release tool, which will enable artists to create campaigns for upcoming albums and allow fans to pre-save directly to their preferred streaming platforms.

Promoting African Music

The Head of Music Partnerships, United Kingdom, Ireland and Sub-Saharan Africa at TikTok, Toyin Mustapha, stated that the new partnership was a key expansion that would bolster the platform's promotion of African music.

"TikTok has always been a key space for music discovery and promotion across Africa. With the launch of TikTok for Artists in Kenya, we’re giving artists and their teams access to insights that can help them engage their fans in more meaningful ways and grow their careers globally," he stated.

"This platform is about putting powerful, transparent data in the hands of creators so they can make smarter decisions and connect with the global TikTok community."

The new launch adds Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and Finland to the 25 other countries where it was available since its launch in June.
