High Court Rules that Wavinya Ndeti is Eligible to Run for Machako's Governor Race

The High Court has cleared former Kathiani Member of Parliament Wavinya Ndeti to vie for the Machakos Governor seat on a Wiper Party ticket.

Judge George Odunga nullified an earlier ruling by the IEBC Commitee which barred Ms Ndeti from the Machakos race for allegedly being a member of two political parties.

IEBC had accused Ndeti of being a member of Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) Party and the Wiper Party at the same time.

Odunga argued the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal had already decided that Ndeti was a member of the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party

He noted that the IEBC committee had no power to nullify the tribunal's decision.

Wiper Leader Kalonzo criticised the commission for interfering with the party's nominations process asking them to leave Ndeti alone.

Ms Ndeti will face off with incumbent Governor Alfred Mutua in the August poll.
