Police Question IEBC on NASA's Move to Have 10 Agents in Each Polling Station

Assistant Inspector General of Police Henry Barmao has written to the IEBC questioning about NASA's move to have additional 450,000 electoral agents across the country, 10 in every polling station.

Barmao asked CEO Ezra Chiloba to clarify IEBC's decision on the issue so that police would not be seen as hostile if they locked out "unwanted guests" from polling stations.

The Assistant IG observed that there could be a crisis in August if unaccredited people accessed the polling centres.

According to Barmao, the only people allowed into tallying centres are registered agents of political parties, security officers, accredited election observers and accredited journalists.

NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga had earlier on stated that there would be additional agents in the polling stations to help guard the presidential vote.

He added that the agents would send immediate results from polling stations to the NASA presidential tallying centre in Nairobi.

They will also monitor the polling station registers to check who has not voted and trace their whereabouts.

On Tuesday, Odinga asked well-wishers to help them raise Sh410 Million to support the strategy dubbed "adopt a polling station."

At the same time, Odinga made shocking remarks stating that the 2017 presidential ballot papers had already been printed.
