47 Cholera Cases Reported Among Participants Attending Conference at Weston Hotel in Nairobi

At least 47 Cholera cases have been reported among guests attending an ongoing Science conference at Weston Hotel in Nairobi.

The hotel is presently hosting participants of the Kenya International Scientific Health Conference that began on June 20 and will end on June 23.

The Chairman of the ongoing conference, Dr George Nyale, confirmed the outbreak saying there is no cause for alarm.

Earlier on, media reports indicated that County Executive Member for Health Bernard Muia had indicated that 3 cholera cases had been reported at Weston Hotel, warning that the number could rise.

A source has, however, confirmed to the Nation, that at least 47 people at the event have tested positive for the disease.

Past reports have widely linked Deputy President William Ruto as the owner of the Weston Hotel. However, in a previous TV interview, Ruto maintained that he is only a shareholder at the hotel.
