Presidential aspirant Mohamed Abduba Dida of the Tunza coalition has declined security officers provided to him by the government.

Dida reportedly chased away the two Administration Police (AP)Officers who were deployed to guard him ahead of the coming elections.

He demanded that he be provided with security detail of up to 20 officers to ensure his safety.

The Tunza coalition Presidential candidate first contested for the presidency in 2013 and garnered a total of 52840 votes in the race that was won by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The retired secondary school teacher disclosed that he would petition the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinet to grant his request and provide him with 20 security officers.

Reports also indicate that the police have declined a request by Third Way Alliance Presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot for 15 security officers.

On June 8, the police declined a request by National Super Alliance Presidential candidate Raila Odinga to be provided with 50 security officers.

Constitutionally, the government is required to provide security to all presidential aspirants.
