Governor Joho and Shahbal noted that they would both speak during the annual Eid Baraza at the Treasury Square later in the day.

Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar, Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir, Mvita Parliamentary Aspirant Omar Shallo and Jubilee politician Abdulsallam Kassim were also seen interacting after the prayers.

Shahbal, who is seeking to unseat Joho on a Jubilee Party ticket, has been the Governor’s greatest critic in the recent past.

On Sunday, the businessman accused Joho of denying him permits to erect his campaign billboards in Mombasa.

His sentiments were echoed by Omar and Awiti who claimed that Joho had sabotaged their campaign billboards.

During the launch of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), Shahbal accused Governor Joho of trying to force his way into Miritini Railway station where President Uhuru Kenyatta was launching the passenger train,

He claimed that the Governor, who was blocked from reaching the function venue, deserved it because he did not observe protocol where after the President arrives, all entries are closed.
