4 Suspected Thugs Killed in Karen Estate, Nairobi

Four suspected thugs have been shot dead this morning by police after committing a robbery at Karen estate in Nairobi.

Confirming the incident, police said that the gang was gunned down after stealing a car from Kayole estate in Nairobi.

An AK-47 rifle with 8 bullets was recovered from the gangsters. A mobile phone allegedly stolen from a man in Kayole was also recovered.

Police disclosed that the suspects were planning another robbery when they were intercepted and gunned down.

The thugs are believed to be behind a series of robberies in Karen targeting homesteads.

Undercover detectives trailed the gang for long before a shootout at Waterpark area in Karen at around 2:00 am.

Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome disclosed that investigations have been launched to establish if the men had been involved in other robberies within Nairobi.

“We will also establish the ownership of the weapon recovered and if it had been used in more incidents,” Koome added.

In a separate incident, a suspected thug was shot dead in Huruma, Nairobi after a botched robbery.

Police have scaled up security operations within Nairobi with a total of nine suspected criminals shot dead since Friday.
