Voi Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) branch chairman John Maghanga narrowly escaped death after a vehicle he was driving collided with a matatu on the Voi-Mwatate road.
Mr Maghanga and other injured passengers were taken to St Joseph's Shelter of Hope Hospital for treatment.
Mwatate OCPD Francis Mwangi confirmed the incident stating that both drivers lost control of their vehicles after colliding, critically injuring 12 people.
Mr Maghanga's accident comes barely 2 days after six people perished and 8 others were injured in a road accident in the same area on Thursday night.
The six among them five family members died after the matatu they were travelling in collided with a canter at Landi area on Voi-Mwatate road.
The five family members died on the spot while the sixth victim died on Friday morning.
The injured victims were rushed to the Moi Referral Hospital in Voi and later transferred to the Ikanga Private Hospital.
The matatu was reported to have been ferrying mourners to a burial in Ngulu area in Taita Taveta County.
