Nyanza Leaders Warn Raila Odinga Over His Call For Six-Piece Voting For ODM During NASA Rallies

As National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga launched his manifesto in Nairobi yesterday, leaders from his Luo Nyanza support base did not have kind words for him.

Led by the Luo council of elders Opiyo Otondi, the leaders warned Odinga to stop his six-piece voting call in favour of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

They warned that the call could lead to more chaos as was witnessed in Rarieda on Monday when rival factions clashed, ending Odinga's rally prematurely.

The team also accused other leaders from the region of using the six-piece voting system to scuttle Odinga's presidential bid.

The uniform voting system has worked well in the region where ODM has massive support. However, the elders warned that this may not work as times have changed and the people have their choices which must be respected.

Odinga was warned that chaos such as the one witnesses on Monday could lead to low voter turn out.

Other communities supporting his candidature could also withdraw their support and make the NASA flag bearer lose the presidency in his final attempt.

The six-piece voting call by Odinga has also been opposed by NASA affiliate parties including Ford-Kenya, Wiper Party and Amani National Congress with the party leaders warning that ODM's greed for elective posts may not work well for the coalition.
