Kethi Kilonzo Writes to DPP About Her Voters Card Theft Case

Popular lawyer Kethi Kilonzo is back in the limelight this time complaining about the progress of a case in which she has been charged with theft of a voter document.

Ms Kilonzo, has written to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) asking about the way forward of the case which has been in court since 2013.

Through her lawyer Julie Soweto, she made a formal complaint to the DPP seeking information about the fate of the case which was to be heard on Wednesday.

The case against the lawyer, who is the daughter of former Minister Mutula Kilonzo, was to be mentioned before a Nairobi magistrate but failed to proceed.

She is accused of presenting a forged document which she intended to use during the nomination for the Makueni Senate seat.

The lawyer, who first made headlines during the 2013 presidential election petition, got into trouble after being accused of using a fake IEBC acknowledgement slip to prove that she was a registered voter.

She was charged first arraigned in court in September 2013 alongside the IEBC officer in charge of electoral planning and logistics.

However, in 2016, the former electoral body Chairman Isaack Hassan reportedly wrote a letter to the DPP requesting that Ms Kilonzo's case be dropped.
