Nairobi Governor Aspirant Mike Sonko and Senator Johnson Sakaja Dismiss Claims that Jubilee's Nairobi Campaign Team is Broke

Private details have now emerged indicating that Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, who is known for his philanthropy, is facing serious financial challenges.

According to The Standard, his presidential suite in a five-star hotel has been locked for the last one week, sparking speculations that he may have run out of funds and moved out of the hotel from where he has been operating since he won Jubilee nominations.

In the last two weeks, Sonko, who is Jubilee Party candidate for Nairobi governorship race, has not held any elaborate rally in long convoys in the city as he is known to hold, sparking concerns that he may have run out of funds.

Nonetheless, yesterday Sonko clarified that he has scaled down his campaigns as a tactical move dismissing claims that he is broke.

"Those who think Sonko is broke are in for a rude shock. I have deliberately opted for house-to-house, business-to-business and estate-to-estate campaigns while my running mate Polycarp Igathe meets business and professional groups," he said.

He clarified that he has taken a low profile, reducing his campaigns after it emerged that his opponents were allegedly hiring thugs to harass the public and loot during his rallies.

"I want to avoid a situation where criminals sponsored by my rival infiltrated my campaign team and started mugging, robbing and harassing the public. The only way to avoid that is by conducting a low-profile campaign," he stated.

Nominated Senator Johnson Sakaja assured the public that at the right time, team Nairobi comprising of himself, Sonko and Rachael Shebesh would be back with the flamboyant convoys and campaigns that they have been known for.
