Jubilee Government Creates New Districts and Divisions Ahead of the Elections

President Uhuru Kenyatta's government has created new administrative structures across the country 39 days to the elections.

The new administrative units include; eight sub-counties, a number of divisions, locations and hundreds of sub-locations.

Some of the new Districts (Sub-counties) created include; Bura East, Tiaty East, Kotulo, Oloililai, Elanga'ata-Wuas, Bananey Tongaren and Igambang'ombe.

In Nairobi's Starehe Sub-county, Ngara and Landi Mawe have been made divisions whereas Muthurwa, Ngara East, Hazina, Ngara West and Mukuru Kayaba were established as new locations.

Railways, Kiwanjani, Jamhuri and Tetra Park were also elevated to be the new sub-locations in Starehe Sub-county.

In Kibra sub-county, Lindi was elevated to be a division while Soweto, Mbagathi, Mashimoni, Upper Hill and Kambi Muru were made new sub-locations

Lang'ata sub-county has a new division named South C. with Upper Hill as the new location and Wilson and Kiang'ombe as sub-locations.

Ministry of Interior and National Coordination Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery stated that the changes were meant to enhance coordination of national government functions and service delivery at the grassroots.

Sub-counties are considered important units during government employment especially during recruitment of the military and other forces.

Slots available in the forces are usually allocated per sub-county across the country.
