Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho Donates Billboards to His Opponents Including Jubilee Candidate

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho surprised many on Friday when he declared that he would donate 21 billboards to his opponents including a Jubilee Candidate.

This rare gesture comes after his opponents blamed him for taking most of the billboards within the county.

Some also accused the Mombasa governor of pulling down their billboards with the matter ending up in court.

Although Joho had booked 21 billboards out of the 138 available in the county, his opponents bashed him for investing heavily on billboards.

His competitors including Senator Hassan Omar (Wiper Party), Hezron Awiti (Vibrant Democratic Party-VDP) and Jubilee candidate Suleiman Shahbal have all come out to challenge the governor over advertisement spaces.

Joho, on the other hand, has maintained that he booked the advertising spaces in advance without disclosing the exact date when he booked them.

Yesterday, Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa blasted Joho for investing on billboards yet it is voters who participate in elections.

By the time of going to press, his opponents had not declared whether they would accept the offer that could see them save millions in campaign funds.

Known for fiercely defending his party Orange Democratic Movement and National Super Alliance (NASA), few would expect him to donate campaign materials to his fierce rivals including Jubilee party candidate.
