7 Wanted Criminals Surrender To Police in Mombasa

Police in Mombasa were treated to a rare show on Friday after two women who had been marked as most wanted criminals voluntarily surrendered.

The two were part of a group of seven who turned themselves in after they were declared wanted and an alert issued.

This comes days after an irate mob lynched Mohamed Shekune alias Bobocha who was reported to be the leader of one of the terror gangs operating from Mombasa’s Old Town.

Mombasa deputy county commissioner Mohamud Salim confirmed that the suspects were at his office on Friday but declined to name those who had surrendered.

Salim stated: "Police have already launched investigations and those with criminal history will automatically be taken to court."

Mvita legislator Abdulswamad Nassir urged other criminals to surrender, stating that they would be helped in rehabilitation and reintegration to the society.

The County has seen a rising wave of youthful gangs emerge, leaving a trail of deaths and other acts of crime.

Police in the Coastal City has launched a crackdown on the criminals operating from the area.

This follows reports that two girlfriends of the slain gang leader (Shekune) had vowed to avenge his death.

The two who were identified as Princess Qween Shmurda and Asma Awil Ahmed made their intentions known through their Facebook accounts.
