Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua Writes to ICC, IEBC and NCIC to Investigate Wavinya Ndeti

Wavinya Ndeti could be headed to the Hague after Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua wrote to the International Criminal Court (ICC) requesting for investigations into her claims of arson on social media.

Mutua wrote to Ms. Fatou Bensouda who is the Chief Prosecutor at the ICC to investigate the former Kathiani Member of Parliament on grounds of domestic terrorism and for perpetuating ethnic cleansing.

He rubbished claims by the Wiper gubernatorial candidate that he was planning to destroy government property in a bid to hide economic crimes carried out by his regime and claimed that Ndeti was attacking him to gain political mileage in the lead up to the August polls.

“The Sensational claim of arson in Ms. Ndeti’s letter can be construed to mean that there could be such a political and criminal plan by her or her supporters to frustrate my government by burning the said buildings,” alleged Mutua.

He urged for investigations to be carried out to prevent a repeat of the 2007 post elections violence as the arson claims were made to create fear and despondency among Kenyans.

“It is eminently important that all security organs are mobilized to thoroughly and speedily investigate the arson allegations made by Ms. Ndeti to deter any terror attacks on my government,” he stated.

In the letter which wrote to the Deputy Inspector General, he also copied the chairman of National Cohesion and Integration Commission Francis Ole Kaparo, Wafula Chebukati of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for their action.

"By copy of this letter, I am requesting the Francis Kaparo, the IEBC Chairman and Bensouda to closely monitor and act on Ndeti’s utterances, writings and social media activities to prevent public incitement and emergence of electoral violence,” he concluded.
