Conflicting Accounts on What Happened To Joseph Nkaissery Before his Death at Karen Hospital

Conflicting accounts have been given on the circumstances surrounding Joseph Nkaissery's death and his last moments alive.

A statement from the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Joseph Kinyua read in part that "Gen. Nkaissery passed on at Karen Hospital in Nairobi a few hours after being admitted for a check-up."

Kajiado Senator Peter Mositet told journalists that Nkaissery reportedly collapsed while at home after having supper and was rushed to Karen hospital where he passed on shortly afterwards.

A source close to the deceased CS disclosed to the Nation that Nkaissery went to the hospital on Friday evening after the prayer meeting held at Uhuru Park.

"He actually looked okay but he said he needed to go to hospital as he was not feeling well," the source said.

Meanwhile, The Star reported that a senior administrator at the Karen Hospital disclosed to the daily that Nkaissery was already dead by the time he reached the hospital.

The administrator who sought anonymity dismissed claims that Nkaissery had driven himself to the hospital.

The confidential source reportedly told the Star that "the doctors received the late at around 1 am and he was already dead. Since our profession does not allow doctors to assume, they run all the emergency procedures amid efforts to resuscitate him but unfortunately, he was already past that."

The newspaper quoted the administrator stating that the CS had no signs of sickness and "doctors who received the late have every reason to believe it was not a heart attack."

While addressing the press on Saturday at Lee Funeral home, Mr Kinyua stated that "let us not speculate, let us wait for the postmortem report.”

Government authorities have launched investigations to establish what caused the death of Nkaissery who many have remembered for his dedication in serving the nation.
