Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua on Saturday stated that she would protect President Uhuru Kenyatta's votes in the August election like she did for former President Mwai Kibaki in 2007.
Speaking to residents of Kutus, Kirinyaga, Karua announced that she would ensure that residents turn out and vote for President Kenyatta.
"Today we are only reminding you of Uhuru's vote since we know he has votes in Kirinyaga, but we can err if we don't turn out. That day after voting go back to your home and look out for anyone who may be unable to make it to the polling stations, the old the sick. …Take them to vote,” she stated.
The Narc-Kenya leader stated that she would supervise President Kenyatta's votes to ensure that he is miles away from Opposition Leader Raila Odinga in the General Election.
"We want Uhuru to be miles and away ahead in tallying such that Raila will not be anywhere near. Tell them Martha Karua is still here. Did you see me supervise Kibaki's votes..did you find me a joke when working? ” the Narc Kenya leader said.
Maragua Member of Parliament Kamende Wambuku explained that in the last election approximately 500,000 registered voters in the Central region did not turn up to vote and urged the residents to turn up in large numbers to give Uhuru a round one win.
"Close to half a million in Central and Eastern did not turn out to vote last elections, but this time we all must show up to ensure this is done without a doubt," he stated.
The leaders made the remarks while traversing Kirinyaga County.
Martha Karua is seeking to be the next Kirinyaga County Governor and will face off with former Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru (Jubilee) and incumbent Joseph Ndathi (Independent).
